
Incidentally, I've turned UAC off before all of this as well. A few steps later in the main install script, the corporate AV is loaded. It gets added to the domain and that points it to our own WSUS. As I mentioned, they were given to us by the client as part of their logos and branding. Also, I manually dragged and dropped a file in and watched then truncated name appear.

I actually ran the script with the fonts folder open and watched them appear. Also in that folder was another 8.3 named file of all alpha that copied in without issue. When they get copied in with the script (code snippet below, I don't recognize any rename parameters.), they become ps.ttf, ps(1).ttf, ps(2).ttf, etc. The original file names are in 8.3 format, start with "ps_" and have 5 digits. \\localhost\c$\windows\fonts so I could see the filenames. I understand the suffix but these filenames are getting truncated. I looked for the files in the Fonts folder, it didn't have the files already. The new version of file is updated, windows doesn’t replace the older version but keep both.

For example, test.txt ->renames to test(2).txt.Ģ. In this situation, the file name will be changed by adding an Arabic suffix. You proceed the copying process anyway and keep both the files.
